Dr.A. LAXMINARAYANA is an internationally known scientist in the field of Aquaculture and Fisheries,based at Cochin,Kerala. Dr Laxminarayana, a renowned aquaculture expert and consultant, has been successful in many aquaculture and fisheries projects and successful in setting up and management of Marine Shrimp/freshwater prawn/Mudcrab/Pearlspot/Tilapia hatcheries and farms in several countries. He is a well experienced and reputed international aquaculture consultant from India. His fields of specialization include Aquaculture and fisheries which include  breeding, seed production and culture of Shrimps, Freshwater Prawns, Mudcrabs, Sea Cucumbers and Finfishes. He is an expert in crustacean physiology and reproduction and sustainable development of wetlands with special reference to mangroves.He is an expert member of the Aquaculture farm Certification following the guidelines of Aquaculture Stewardship Council(ASC). He is an expert in Cage Culture of fishes and farming of shrimp and finfishes in biofloc and RAS systems.  

He has developed simple, low-cost technologies for induced maturation, spawning, hatchery seed production, culture of shrimps, freshwater prawns, mudcrabs, seacucumbers, Pearlspot/ Tilapia and cage culture of fish. He also has developed technologies of artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization in shrimps and techniques of producing seacucumbers by asexual reproduction. The other fields of his expertise include seed production and culture of mudcrabs development of wetlands, marshy lands and mangroves for sustainable development, freshwater prawn breeding and culture, fish culture, cage culture of fish, Biofloc and RAS systems of farming of shrimp and finfishes and Environment impact assessment studies with special reference to mangroves. He is a recipient of National award and several international awards for his outstanding contributions to shrimp breeding and culture. He has served as Consultant/Advisor to Government/ Organizations of India, Mauritius, Cambodia, Iran, Vietnam, Maldives,Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bahrain,Qatar, Namibia, Tanzania, Ghana (EU funded project), Uganda, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Oman. He has also served/serving as Consultant (Expert) to FAO & ILO of United Nations, JICA (Japan International Co-operation Agency), European Union, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), KFW Developement Bank of Germany, Export import bank of india, European Union Projects Skill development council of india,  Deloitte, PWC, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), KUFOS , Amritha School of Pharmacy and faculty member of Asian Institute of Food Safety Management, Ministry of Agriculture and farmers Welfare, DADF (Government of india). He has published several papers in National and International journals. He is a Consultant to KITCO, Govt. of Kerala, Govt. of Odisha (Fisheries Value Chain Studies) and National Monitoring Leader(NML), Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India. He has also served/serving as visiting Professor to several prestigious Universities such as Kerala University, Cochin University of science & Technology etc. He is a member of several Govt. of India Expert committees dealing with aquaculture and fisheries.He is serving as a Reviewer of several national and International Journals dealing with Fisheries, Aquaculture and biological sciences. He is also studied the Fisheries Value Chain -A project founded by ADB.
